Environmental Impact
Our Role in Global Methane Emission Reduction
BEVL is a methane abatement project
that produces biomethane from organic waste, offering a sustainable energy solution while reducing harmful methane emissions. By turning waste into renewable energy, the project helps mitigate climate change and supports environmental sustainability.
It has 28 times the global warming potential of CO₂ over a 100-year period.
Emission Reduction Potential
Our project has the potential to reduce 491,000 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent (tCO₂e) per year through:
Sustainable processing of food waste
Effective management of animal manure
Replacement of fossil fuels currently used by end-users
BEVL is on track to become the largest private-sector holder of voluntary carbon offsets in Pakistan, focusing on carbon avoidance at scale.
Water Conservation
Our baseline analysis reveals a significant, often overlooked environmental challenge:
- Each farm wastes approximately 800 gallons of water per day just to flush out cow dung
- Across a single cattle society, this amounts to over 30 million gallons of water wasted annually
